Class Descriptions

Class 1 - OPEN AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION 23-35 years
For amateur adults who have reached their twenty-third birthday, but are not over thirty-five years. Minimum of eight fences not to exceed 3'0".

Class 2 - OPEN AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION 36 years and Over
For amateur adults who are 36 years of age or older. Minimum of eight fences not to exceed 3'0".

Class 3 - THE NEW ENGLAND HORSEMEN'S COUNCIL AMATEUR ADULT MEDAL FINALS 23-35 years
For amateur members of the New England Horsemen's Council who have won ten points in NEHC Medal Classes at member shows since October 13, 2007. All contestants will be required to perform over at least ten fences not to exceed 3'0". A minimum of 25% of the riders from the first round will be required to return for a second round of at least eight fences. Further testing will be at the discretion of the judges. Tests 1-19.

Class 4 - THE NEW ENGLAND HORSEMEN'S COUNCIL AMATEUR ADULT MEDAL FINALS 36 years and Over
For amateur members of the New England Horsemen's Council who have won ten points in NEHC Medal Classes at member shows since October 13, 2007. All contestants will be required to perform over at least ten fences not to exceed 3'0". Class 6 - THE NEW ENGLAND HORSEMEN'S COUNCIL AMATEUR ADULT MEDAL FINALS 18-22 years

Class 7 - THE NEEC JUNIOR HORSEMANSHIP CLASS
Open to all junior exhibitors competing in the New England Horsemen's Council Hunt Seat Medal Finals. This award is intended to identify from among our many competitors the all around horseperson; those who can "do it all." Young horsemen who not only ride well, but understand the great importance of quality horse care.
The top ribbon winners will be determined by adding together scores in the three competition areas; a written test, followed by a "hands on" practicum in the stable area by three judges and the average first round score in the New England Finals. All practicum finalists are required to provide a grooming box.
The written test will be on Friday, October 17 starting at 6:30 pm at the Marriott in West Springfield. There will be no admittance after 7:00 pm. You will not be able to leave the testing room before 7:00 pm.

Class 8 - OPEN EQUITATION Under 15 years
For Juniors who have not reached their 15th birthday, minimum of eight fences not to exceed 3'.

Class 9 - OPEN EQUITATION 15-17 years
For juniors who have reached their 15th, but not their 18th birthday. Minimum of eight fences not to exceed 3'3".

Class 10 - CHALLENGE OF THE STATES INVITATIONAL
Open to Junior riders, who will represent their state, with the top six scores from the open equitation classes. The top four riders with the highest scores will ride and the fifth and sixth highest scores will be the chef’s d'equipe. Riders must have a minimum score of 55 to make a team. States with approximately 25 or more entries, in the qualifying classes, may be considered for additional teams. The best three of the four scores will count toward the team total. States with fewer than five riders will be combined, as the All American Team where the top six scores from these states will become the Team. If there are not five of these riders they may then compete as individuals. Riders must be NEHC medal qualified riders or past winners of the New England Finals in order to qualify for this class.

Class 11 - THE NEW ENGLAND HORSEMEN'S COUNCIL HUNT SEAT MEDAL FINALS
For Junior members of the New England Horsemen's Council who have won one NEHC Jr. Medal Classes at member shows since October 13, 2007. All contestants will be required to perform over at least twelve fences not to exceed 3'3". A minimum of twenty riders be asked to return for a second round of at least ten fences after a preparation time. At least two individual tests of, at least, the top four contestants will also be required. Tests 1-19. Further testing is at the option of the judges.
